Cool dood, but why?

We love the independent, scrappy brands. The ones that have soul. We’re building Peasy for them: the makers, operators, and creators. It starts with inventory management software that is simple, yet powerful, fast, yet controlled, and genuinely helpful for the brands who use it.

Building a brand is hard. We know, we lived this life for 10 years creating a mustard brand. Like everyone else, we ran our business on spreadsheets, a lot of spreadsheets. One spreadsheet error and before we knew it, we were out of our bestseller and short on mustard seed to make more.

The tools meant to fix this are bloated, expensive, and built for companies ten times your size. We too were scrappy, and it was a non starter to spend hundreds, let alone thousands on software.

When we started Peasy, we assumed we’d charge the typical subscription fee — $29, $99, $399/month depending on the plan, number of seats, and so on. After all, that’s what everyone does.

But we ran into a simple reality:

We’re competing with spreadsheets… and spreadsheets are free.

And the thing about Excel and Google Sheets: they may break now and then, or version 34 may go missing, but, more or less, they get the job done well enough when cash is tight.

So, like Google Sheets, Peasy is now free to use. No trial, no credit card wall, no implementation fee. Just Free to Create.

How we’ll make money… one day

It’s actually quite simple; we’ll make money the same way other platforms make most of their money.

Through the actual transactions running through the system.

  • When a brand buys from a supplier → we can facilitate the payment

  • When a brand invoices their customers → we can help collect payment

These transactions already come with small fees (your standard ACH and credit card processing fees). Peasy plans on charging the same payment processing fees your current tools are charging, no more, no less.

Ultimately, where you manage these payments is and will always be up to you. But, we believe that if we give you the tools to manage your inventory, with clarity and control, perhaps with a bit of joy, you’ll be over the moon to process your payments on Peasy instead of anywhere else.

What this enables

This funding allows us to:

  • Maintain focus on supporting scrappy, up and coming CPG brands and avoid the typical startup shift to enterprise companies with big budgets

  • Spend time listening to users, building workflows to meet their needs, and improving the product day by day

  • Better aligned incentives: we grow when the brands using Peasy grow

What’s next

We’ve got three big priorities:

1. Make Peasy smarter, not busier.

Peasy will begin to anticipate what’s coming — low stock, new manufacturing needs, changes in demand — and help you stay one step ahead.

2. Make onboarding stupidly simple.

Right now, it takes about a week to get everything set up and flowing. That’s… fine, but we’d like to get it down to a weekend.

3. Tell more people.

Today, Peasy powers enough brands for a healthy pick-up game of Quidditch. We’re going for enough to fill the stadium.
